Ne-Hi – Stay Young

Ne-Hi Releases Video for First Single on Upcoming Album Offers

“Stay Young” is the first single to Ne-Hi’s upcoming album Offers, to be released on February 24, 2017 on Grand Jury. The video is an escapist view of an urban landscape through underground garage mustiness. As trash blows around in the breeze, brick and steel surround four guys (Jason Balla, Mikey Wells, James Weir, and Alex Otake), and some friends, moving in slow motion as if they were creating their own reality. What we witness is an out-of-body experience.

From the basements of the Chicago DIY scene. The video is almost an antithesis to the vibrant energy the band possesses. The punchy guitars and expressive beat dominate a song like “Stay Young.” This declaration is as blatant a statement as when Wire made “1 2 X U” or when Galaxie 500 proclaimed “Don’t Let Your Youth Go To Waste.”

Ne-Hi’s debut received critical acclaim both with the local and national press. I don’t expect things to change for Offers. Together the sounds of art house psych pop shimmers deep within this band. These Midwesterners will be hitting the road, beginning in January.
