Lunar Vacation
Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire

For Lunar Vacation, the stars are aligned with their sophomore release. Adding producer Drew Vandenberg (Faye Webster, Toro y Moi, and Of Montreal) to the roster and Finn Wolfhard on hand to produce the video for their lead single, “Set the Stage.”
Going from childhood friends to all living under the same roof, the band advanced the impact on their lives and formulated friendships on another level, all seeping into this release. “Happiness is coming, can’t you see?” These words repeated on the simplistic melancholy pop of “Better Luck,” is like a personalized inspirational quote resulting from life-threatening challenges the group faced while transforming into adults.
When you hear a song like “Fantasy,” you feel that music has become their escape from the 24/7 experience the band lives through. However, the tight bond has only made their music breathe more and become natural in their songwriting. The music on this song reaches farther than anything else on this album, creating a wonderful panorama of blissful soft psychedelia.
Going back to “Set the Stage,” the song is a cloud burst of drifting melodies crashing into each other, all guided by these gorgeous harmonies between lyricist, guitarist, and vocalist Gep Repasky and guitarist and vocalist Maggie Geeslin. It’s the perfect example of getting lost in the song as easily as curiosity to find the deeper meaning.
The band had to let go of their own control with each other for these songs to bloom. “. . . This house helped us grow as best friends, as musicians, as a band,” Repasky describes the glue to making all of this a reality.
Everything Matters, Everything’s Fire is the result of a band who trusted the process and let their creativity guide them through every element.
