If You Only Knew
Suicide Squeeze
From the first notes there is something immediately spiritual going on that stops you in your tracks. Something as modest as this EP, If You Only Knew turns dreams into reality and sonics shooting out to the heavens.
These four songs are stunning! Just with a song like “Wandering Lost,” you get ethereal, intensity, passion and reflection all in one. If my jaw could drop any more when hearing the shimmering guitars showing restraint, it’s the ethereal tinges in Sunny Faris’s vocals. She describes the song as, “feeling community in sorrow and remembering that everyone hurts, everyone changes, and that no one knows what’s next.” As the songs transform into a mantra, everything feels so real.
The talent that lies within is the way each member can emit intense guitar rock that can feel slightly sludgy yet powerful while just being impressive with the way they use volume as storytelling. It’s also why they can showcase beauty in a dome of dream pop, and it all makes sense.
Eyes shut and head back, “Fate is Forward” loses the listener into an eternity of plush and trembling pulses only expressed through haunting songwriting. It’s meditative ecstasy.
If You Only Knew is brilliant. Short-lived, we experience song after song of poignant and expressive songwriting that will blow your mind.
