Extinction AD
To The Detested
Unique Leader Records
New York thrash sucks up an ethos of classic East Coast hardcore to churn out an album of no-nonsense power.
To The Detested goes to the quick immediately and keeps things avidly fresh, leaving no time for your brain to set in. We feel the gale force winds of “Impervious (Unrepentant)” a perfect example to the tone of this album with the added touch of Trivium’s Matthew Kiichi Heafy guesting. Every chord packs a punch in such a fast-paced amount of time.
Worthy of note is that not every song is the equivalent of a hardcore thrash battle axe. “Burnt Sienna” emits the pulse of world beats and a barrage of percussion (and I mean an orgasm of percussion) until it all comes together in a glorious romp.
It’s nice to see Extinction AD pull from their New York City music routes and use that muscle to continue the drive. If you are looking for hardcore thrash with an East Coast flare, this album shows where the band has come from while being forward-thinking in their philosophy.
